Bibarba is a little-known genus of stone loaches described from freshwater streams in China, home to two species, parvoculus and wenliuensis, both modest in size at roughly 2–2.5 in. The genus name - reading roughly as "two beards" - points to the barbel arrangement around the mouth that ichthyologists used to distinguish it from related loach genera in the region. Beyond that taxonomic placement, published detail on this genus's habitat preferences and natural history is thin; it belongs to the same fast-water, benthic loach lineage that has produced a wide range of narrowly distributed Chinese stream species.
Bibarba has no presence in the aquarium hobby that the record supports - both species are recently characterized, narrowly distributed, and known essentially only from the scientific literature describing them. Both are currently listed as Not Evaluated for conservation status, which is typical for small, newly described loach genera from China's freshwater systems, where taxonomy tends to get settled well before population surveys catch up. For now this is a genus of interest to loach taxonomists rather than to keepers, and any specific care or breeding claims would outrun what is actually known - data are sparse.
