Bryconacidnus is a small genus of characins (tetras and their relatives) from the upper Amazon basin, recorded in the atlas across Peru and Bolivia. The three species are modest fish, 1–2 in, typical of the smaller characins found in Andean foothill and lowland tributary streams of the region. As with many characin genera from this part of the upper Amazon, published natural-history detail is limited outside the taxonomic literature.
Only one species, Bryconacidnus hemigrammus (Pearson's characin), carries an established common name, and none of the three has a foothold in the aquarium trade. Conservation status is a mix of Not Evaluated, Data Deficient, and Least Concern, underscoring how little targeted assessment this genus has received - it remains a fish known mainly to regional ichthyological surveys rather than fishkeepers.
