Chrysobrycon is a genus of small characin tetras from the western Amazon basin, with atlas species recorded from Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador - the Andean-foothill and lowland streams that drain toward the upper Amazon. Atlas species are modest in size, from about 1.5–3 in, slender-bodied characins typical of the smaller tetra genera found in this part of South America.
This is a genus known mainly to characin taxonomists rather than the aquarium hobby; Chrysobrycon myersi carries the common name Myers' Tetra, but none of the genus has an established presence in the trade, and husbandry or breeding information is essentially absent. Conservation status is similarly under-documented - the atlas shows a mix of Least Concern, Vulnerable, Data Deficient, and unassessed species, with too little survey coverage across its range to draw a confident conclusion about the genus as a whole. Data are sparse enough here that the honest statement is uncertainty rather than a verdict.
