Taxonomy & naming
This is an undescribed form: no scientific name, authority or type material stands behind it, and its identity and range are not documented in the sources the atlas uses. CW027 is a Corydoras World code, and the form also carries the code C154. Dan's Fish lists it as Corydoras brevirostris, and some dealers use Corydoras cf. brevirostris; the atlas keeps it under its code. It was filed under Corydoras before the 2024 revision and is now placed under Hoplisoma.
Morphology
Imperial Tropicals describes a tan or gray body with a dark blotch on the shoulder that extends into the front half of the dorsal fin, black speckles over the body and a black mask across the eyes. It says dark, broken vertical stripes in the tail fin set it apart from Hoplisoma melanistium and Brochis delphax, which look similar.
Habitat
Imperial Tropicals states that it is native to the Rio Orinoco and the Rio Meta. A hobby reference lists wild stock from Colombia. No habitat measurements are recorded.
Feeding
Corydoradines are bottom-feeding omnivores that sift sand with their barbels (genus-level); no diet is documented for this form.
Mating
Like other corydoradines, the genus spawns in the T-position, the female carrying eggs in her pelvic fins before sticking them to a surface. Spawning of this form is not documented.
Breeding
No captive-breeding record for this form is held by the atlas.
In the aquarium
The sellers give no further care figures. Like other corydoradines, the genus does best on sand it can sift, and in a group.
Conservation
No IUCN assessment exists for this undescribed form. Its range and numbers are not documented, so its conservation status cannot be stated.
