Favonigobius is a genus of small sand gobies in the family Gobiidae, distributed across the Indo-West Pacific from continental Asia through Southeast Asia to Australia and Japan. The atlas's 2 species are recorded from Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, China, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, and like most sand gobies they live on sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow coastal, estuarine, and brackish habitats, running 2.5–3 in.
These are not aquarium trade fish; Favonigobius species are of interest mainly to ichthyologists and coastal ecologists rather than fishkeepers, and detailed husbandry information is essentially unavailable. Both of the atlas's species carry a Not Evaluated IUCN status, typical of small, widely distributed gobies that have not been the focus of dedicated conservation assessment.
