Fenerbahce is a small genus of African killifish native to forest habitats in the Congo basin, with the atlas's 2 species recorded from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Congo. Like many of their killifish relatives in the region, they are small fish of shaded forest streams and pools, and the taxonomy of Central Africa's killifish diversity has been revised more than once as researchers have worked to sort it into better-defined genera.
Fenerbahce devosi and F. formosus are little known outside specialist killifish circles, and the atlas treats the available information cautiously given how sparse published data is for this genus. One species is Least Concern and the other Not Evaluated - these fish sit well outside the mainstream aquarium trade, kept if at all by dedicated killifish hobbyists working from wild-collected or exchange stock rather than commercial suppliers.
