Microschemobrycon is a genus of tiny tetras (family Characidae) recorded across a broad swath of northern and central South America in the atlas — Brazil, Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, and Guyana — though individual species tend to be known from far narrower ranges within that spread. At 1–1.5 in, these are among the smallest characins in the atlas, slender schooling fish typical of the blackwater and clearwater forest streams that host so much of the region's tetra diversity.
This is a genus of essentially no aquarium-trade presence — none of the atlas's seven species carry an established common name, and published information on their biology and care stays limited to taxonomic description rather than hobbyist accounts. Conservation status leans favorable where assessed, with four Least Concern species, while three remain Not Evaluated; data on this small, widely scattered genus are genuinely sparse.
