Myomyrus is a genus of elephantfish in family Mormyridae, the weakly electric mormyrids of African fresh waters - the atlas records it from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Zambia. Atlas species measure roughly 9.5–11.5 in and share a relatively blunt head and shorter snout than many long-snouted elephantfishes, along with the electric organ in the tail that all mormyrids use to navigate and communicate in murky or nocturnal conditions.
None of the three atlas species is established in the aquarium trade, and Myomyrus is essentially a genus of scientific rather than hobby interest; general mormyrid care - soft, acidic to neutral water, sand substrate, dim lighting, and caution around other electric fish sharing the same discharge frequencies - would apply if any were ever offered. Conservation status is mixed across the genus - two atlas species are Least Concern, one Vulnerable.
