Neofundulus is a genus of South American killifish (order Cyprinodontiformes), found in seasonal floodplain and Chaco wetland habitats - the atlas records it from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. Atlas species are small, roughly 1.5–3 in, and like many killifish of these temporary-water systems they are generally adapted to a boom-and-bust cycle of wet-season flooding and dry-season retreat, though the genus's precise reproductive strategy is not something asserted here with certainty - data are sparse.
None of the three atlas species - N. ornatipinnis, N. paraguayensis, N. parvipinnis - has a significant presence in the mainstream aquarium hobby; killifish specialists occasionally work with Chaco-region genera like this one, but detailed published care reports are sparse. Conservation status leans reassuring where assessed, with one atlas species Least Concern and two not yet evaluated.
