Saccoderma is a small genus of tetras in family Characidae, found in river drainages of Colombia and Venezuela. The atlas's three species - hastata, melanostigma, and robusta - are tiny fish, only 1–1.5 in, well within the size range typical of small schooling tetras from South American blackwater and clearwater streams. Beyond that basic profile, the genus is not well documented in readily available literature, and much of its natural history and specific habitat preferences remain sparsely described.
Saccoderma has no meaningful presence in the aquarium trade and appears to be a genus of scientific rather than ornamental interest; none of the three species carries an established common name or hobby reputation. Its conservation picture is the most reassuring in this batch, with all three atlas species rated Least Concern by IUCN - though, given how little dedicated survey attention the genus receives, that rating is best read as no known major threat identified rather than a thoroughly assessed status.
