The Manda population
Maylandia sp. "Dumpy Tanzania" "Manda" is the Manda population of Maylandia sp. "Dumpy Tanzania", a geographic colour form from the Tanzania coast of Lake Malawi in the far northern part of the lake. It is the same species as Maylandia sp. "Dumpy Tanzania", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Maylandia sp. "Dumpy Tanzania" is an undescribed rock-dwelling mbuna recorded at Manda, a rocky locality on Lake Malawi's Tanzanian shore near the lake's northern end. As with its namesake form from Chitimba Bay on the opposite, Malawian side of the lake, "dumpy" describes an unusually short, deep-bodied build rather than a colour pattern, and the "Tanzania" qualifier distinguishes this population by country and locality from other "dumpy" forms recorded elsewhere around the lake.
