Maylandia sp. "Mbweca" "Mbweca Rocks" is the Mbweca Rocks population of Maylandia sp. "Mbweca", a geographic colour form from the Mozambique coast of Lake Malawi in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Maylandia sp. "Mbweca", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species

Maylandia sp. "Mbweca" is an undescribed mbuna recorded at Mbweca Rocks on the Mozambique shore of Lake Malawi. The trade name simply records the reef where this population was collected; no widely used colour or descriptive qualifier attaches to it.
