The Londo Bay population
Mylochromis sp. "Balteatus Mozambique" "Londo Bay" is the Londo Bay population of Mylochromis sp. "Balteatus Mozambique", a geographic colour form from the Mozambique coast of Lake Malawi in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Mylochromis sp. "Balteatus Mozambique", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Mylochromis sp. "Balteatus Mozambique" is an undescribed sand-dwelling haplochromine recorded at Londo Bay on the Mozambique shore of Lake Malawi. Its trade name links it to the described species Mylochromis balteatus, whose oblique dark flank band it is said to resemble, but the two populations are geographically disjunct: true M. balteatus is documented only from the far north of the lake, around Vua and Karonga, hundreds of kilometres from Londo Bay. It has not been formally described.
