The Kasola Island population
Neolamprologus cylindricus "Kasola Island" is the Kasola Island population of Neolamprologus cylindricus, a geographic colour form from the Tanzania coast of Lake Tanganyika in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Neolamprologus cylindricus, distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Neolamprologus cylindricus is a small, boldly barred rock-dwelling cichlid found only along the southeastern shore of Lake Tanganyika. Its cigar-shaped body and chain of crisp dark bands make it one of the most instantly recognizable of the lake's lamprologines. In the wild it is a secretive crevice predator; in the aquarium it is a hardy but pugnaciously territorial fish best kept as a single bonded pair.
