Placidochromis sp. "Chinyankwazi" "Chinyankwazi Island" is the Chinyankwazi Island population of Placidochromis sp. "Chinyankwazi", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the southern part of the lake. It is the same species as Placidochromis sp. "Chinyankwazi", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species

Placidochromis sp. "Chinyankwazi" is an undescribed haplochromine recorded from Chinyankwazi Island in the southern basin of Lake Malawi. The name is drawn directly from the island itself rather than from any described relative, and the form has not been given a formal scientific description.
