The Manda population

Pseudotropheus sp. "Minutus Tanzania" "Manda" is the Manda population of Pseudotropheus sp. "Minutus Tanzania", a geographic colour form from the Tanzania coast of Lake Malawi in the far northern part of the lake. It is the same species as Pseudotropheus sp. "Minutus Tanzania", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species

Pseudotropheus sp. "Minutus Tanzania" is an undescribed mbuna cichlid documented along the Tanzanian shore of Lake Malawi, at Lupingu, Manda, and Ndonga. Its trade name carries the Latin epithet "minutus" — small, or minute — suggesting a comparison to a smaller-bodied relative within the genus, though the exact taxonomic relationship has not been formally studied. It has never been given a scientific description of its own, and no authority, IUCN status, or FishBase entry should be attached to it.
