About the species

Sciaenochromis sp. "Stripe Tanzania" is an undescribed predatory cichlid recorded from Lundu on Lake Malawi's Tanzanian shore, distinguished in field references by a striped body pattern and separated from the several other unassigned Sciaenochromis forms simply by that Tanzanian range. It belongs to the same small genus of open-water hunters as the widely traded electric-blue S. fryeri; no authority, formal description or conservation status attaches to it.
