Taeniolethrinops macrorhynchus "Chesese" is the Chesese population of Taeniolethrinops macrorhynchus, a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the far northern part of the lake. It is the same species as Taeniolethrinops macrorhynchus, distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Taeniolethrinops macrorhynchus is a sand-dwelling haplochromine cichlid documented from Chesese, on the far northern shore of Lake Malawi. It belongs to a small genus of elongated, snout-heavy sand-sifters closely related to Lethrinops, and its own epithet — "large-snouted" — echoes the digging, probing lifestyle the whole group shares: pushing an extended jaw into open sand to root out buried invertebrates.
