Tyttobrycon is a genus of very small tetras in family Characidae, native to the Amazon basin in Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru. Species in the genus are diminutive, delicate characins associated with slow-flowing forest streams and floodplain habitats typical of many small Amazonian tetra genera, and they rank among the smallest characiform fishes recorded in the atlas, with adults reaching only about 0.5–1 in.
The genus - Tyttobrycon dorsimaculatus, T. hamatus, T. marajoara, T. spinosus, and T. xeruini - is little known outside taxonomic and ichthyological literature, and none of its species has an established common name in general use. It is not a genus with any real presence in the aquarium trade, and conservation information is sparse: three atlas species are Not Evaluated by the IUCN and two are Least Concern, indicating this remains a scientifically rather than commercially significant group.
