Taxonomy & naming
Conway and Kottelat described the species in 2007 from a stream near Payathouzu on the Myanmar-Thailand border in Kayin State. It belongs to Psilorhynchidae, the torrent minnows, a family of small hillstream fish.
Morphology
A small, stout-bodied torrent minnow reaching 2.5 in SL according to FishBase. The species name robustus refers to its sturdy build. Colour detail is not described in the sources the atlas uses.
Habitat
FishBase lists it as freshwater and benthopelagic in tropical water and gives the range as the headwaters of the Ataran basin in Myanmar. Water parameters are not recorded.
