Taxonomy & naming
This is an undescribed form: no scientific name, authority or type material stands behind it, and its identity and range are not documented in the sources the atlas uses. "Blue Zebra" is a trade label, also seen as Bluefin or Double Blue Zebra at other sellers. It is not the described Gastromyzon zebrinus.
Morphology
Neither seller text held by the atlas describes colour in detail; the name suggests a barred pattern. Gastromyzon are small hillstream loaches of Borneo with a flattened body and broad paired fins that act as a sucker on rocks in fast water (genus-level).
Habitat
No collection locality is given in the Dan's Fish listing. Hobby sellers describe it as a Bornean form.
Feeding
Gastromyzon graze algae and the small animals living in the biofilm on stones (genus-level); the seller gives no diet for this form.
Mating
Spawning of this form is not documented.
Breeding
No captive-breeding record for this form is held by the atlas. Dan's Fish lists the stock as harvested from nature.
In the aquarium
Dan's Fish ships fish of about 1 to 2.5 in and gives an adult size of around 2.5 to 3 in. It describes hillstream loaches as needing flowing, well-oxygenated water, with surfaces to cling to.
Conservation
No IUCN assessment exists for this undescribed form. Its range and numbers are not documented, so its conservation status cannot be stated.
