Pseudogobiopsis is a genus of small true gobies (family Gobiidae) distributed across South and Southeast Asia, with species recorded from India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia. The genus's 2 species in the atlas are tiny, 1–2.5 in, consistent with the diminutive size typical of many freshwater and brackish gobies in the region. Like most gobiids they are bottom-dwelling ambush feeders, typically found in slow-flowing lowland streams, ditches, and estuarine or brackish transition zones rather than open water.
Neither species has an established profile in the aquarium hobby, and care information is sparse outside of taxonomic and faunal survey literature. The two IUCN assessments on file - one Least Concern, one Data Deficient - point to a genus that is not obviously threatened but also not well studied across its considerable range, typical of many small, easily overlooked gobies.
