Pseudogobiopsis lumbantobing is a small freshwater goby of the family Oxudercidae, described in 2017 by Larson, Hadiaty and Hubert from the Kluet area of northwest Sumatra, Indonesia. FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL and describes a stream habitat over sand, gravel and boulders. Almost nothing else has been published on its biology, and it has only recently appeared in the trade.

Taxonomy & naming

Pseudogobiopsis lumbantobing was described by Larson, Hadiaty & Hubert (2017) and is listed as valid by the Catalog of Fishes with the type locality Sungei Kluet in northwest Sumatra. The genus contains gobies of Southeast Asian freshwater and estuarine habitats.

Morphology

FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL for this species. As in other gobies the pelvic fins are fused into a sucker disc. A detailed colour description has not been compiled here.

Habitat

FishBase describes a freshwater species of rivers and streams at low altitudes of 16–72 ft, over a bottom of sand, gravel, rock and boulders, with algae and aquatic plants sometimes present. It is listed as demersal and is known from Indonesia. The type locality is Sungei Kluet in northwest Sumatra. Measured water chemistry has not been published.
