Nasutoryzias ataranensis is a ricefish described in 2021 by Roberts from a tidal creek in the lower Salween basin of Myanmar. It is known from a very small body of published information.

Taxonomy & naming

Roberts described the species in 2021 and placed it in the new genus Nasutoryzias, separate from Oryzias, from a tidal creek near Moulmein.

Morphology

A small ricefish. A full description is not reproduced here.

Habitat

The type locality is the Ataran Chaung, a large tidal creek around 328 ft wide in the lower Salween basin, Myanmar. The water there is tidal and probably brackish.

Feeding

Diet is not documented.

Courtship has not been described.
