Maylandia sp. "Aggressive Bars" "Taiwanee Reef" is the Taiwanee Reef population of Maylandia sp. "Aggressive Bars", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Maylandia sp. "Aggressive Bars", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Maylandia sp. 'aggressive bars' is an undescribed zebra mbuna recorded from a broad stretch of central Lake Malawi, straddling both the Malawi and Mozambique shorelines from Hora Mhango in the north down to Chiloelo in the south. It is known to collectors purely by its trade name, which describes both a bold, high-contrast vertically barred colour pattern and a markedly pugnacious temperament, even by the combative standards of the genus. No formal scientific description exists for this form.
