Maylandia sp. "Lime Nkhomo" "Mbenji Island" is the Mbenji Island population of Maylandia sp. "Lime Nkhomo", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the south-central part of the lake. It is the same species as Maylandia sp. "Lime Nkhomo", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Maylandia sp. "Lime Nkhomo" is an undescribed mbuna cichlid recorded from Mbenji Island and Nkhomo Reef in south-central Lake Malawi. Its trade name points to a lime-green to yellow-green body colour, a tone seen in a number of Maylandia zebra-complex populations across the lake, combined with its own locality, Nkhomo Reef. It has never been given a scientific name, and this article treats it as its own distinct, unnamed population rather than assuming identity with any similarly coloured form from elsewhere in the lake.
