Mylochromis sp. "Kande" "Kande Island" is the Kande Island population of Mylochromis sp. "Kande", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Mylochromis sp. "Kande", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Mylochromis sp. "Kande" is an undescribed haplochromine cichlid recorded from Kande Island, one of the best-studied collection points on Lake Malawi's central-western shore. Unlike several other undescribed Mylochromis trade names, this one is a pure locality tag rather than a resemblance comparison to a named species, reflecting a population distinct enough, or simply not yet compared closely enough, to be tied to a described relative.
