The Gome population
Nimbochromis linni "Gome" is the Gome population of Nimbochromis linni, a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the south-central part of the lake. It is the same species as Nimbochromis linni, distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Nimbochromis linni is a predatory Lake Malawi cichlid known from a scatter of island and reef localities running most of the length of the lake, from Chizumulu Island in the north to Boadzulu Island in the south. It belongs to Nimbochromis, a genus of large, mottled ambush hunters whose blotched, camouflage-like colouration gives several of its members the nickname 'sleeper cichlids' — some, most famously N. livingstonii, are documented lying motionless on the sand to lure small fish close before striking. As a full member of that genus, N. linni shares the basic body plan and predatory lifestyle even where its own specific behaviour has not been separately studied in detail.
