The Boadzulu Island population

Placidochromis sp. "Electra Boadzulu" "Boadzulu Island" is the Boadzulu Island population of Placidochromis sp. "Electra Boadzulu", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the southern part of the lake. It is the same species as Placidochromis sp. "Electra Boadzulu", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species

Placidochromis sp. "Electra Boadzulu" is an undescribed blue haplochromine recorded from Boadzulu Island in the southern basin of Lake Malawi, a rocky islet near Mangochi close to the general area where the described Placidochromis electra was first characterised. Collectors track it as a separate field form rather than folding it into the confirmed electra localities, and it carries no formal scientific description of its own.
