Placidochromis sp. "Jalo" "Jalo Reef" is the Jalo Reef population of Placidochromis sp. "Jalo", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the south-central part of the lake. It is the same species as Placidochromis sp. "Jalo", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species

Placidochromis sp. "Jalo" is an undescribed haplochromine recorded from Jalo Reef in the north-central part of Lake Malawi. The name is drawn directly from the reef itself rather than from any described relative, and the form has not been given a formal scientific description.
