About the species
Pseudotropheus perileucos is a rock-dwelling mbuna documented from reefs and points around Likoma Island and the surrounding central-lake shoreline of Lake Malawi. Its name, built from Greek roots meaning roughly "very white" or "white all around," points to a pale or whitish element in its coloration — likely a distinguishing feature such as white fin margins or an overall light body tone relative to darker-marked relatives sharing the same reefs.
