Pseudotropheus sp. "Ndumbi Gold" "Ndumbi Rocks" is the Ndumbi Rocks population of Pseudotropheus sp. "Ndumbi Gold", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the central part of the lake. It is the same species as Pseudotropheus sp. "Ndumbi Gold", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Pseudotropheus sp. "Ndumbi Gold" is an undescribed mbuna cichlid recorded from Ndumbi Rocks, part of the rocky cluster around Likoma Island in central Lake Malawi that also produces Labidochromis gigas, Cynotilapia zebroides, Maylandia zebra, Labeotropheus fuelleborni and several other locality-documented cichlids. Its trade name flags a golden ground colour as the field character distinguishing it from its neighbours on the same reef. It has never been given a formal scientific description; no authority, IUCN status, or FishBase entry should be attached to it.
