Tropheops sp. "Olive" "Mara Rocks" is the Mara Rocks population of Tropheops sp. "Olive", a geographic colour form from the Malawi coast of Lake Malawi in the northern part of the lake. It is the same species as Tropheops sp. "Olive", distinguished by its collection locality and local coloration; aquarists keep and breed it as a discrete, provenance-labelled line.

About the species
Tropheops sp. 'olive' is an undescribed rock mbuna from the far northern end of Lake Malawi, recorded along the Chilumba-Mdowa stretch of the Malawi shore and across the border at Lupingu on the Tanzanian coast. Its trade name refers to the muted olive-green male body colour that sets it apart from the brighter blue Tropheops sharing the same reefs. It has not been formally described.
