Tremeuchiloglanis baishuiensis was described in 2026 by Hai-Min Lv, De-Kui He, Chun-Yun Lei and Fei Liu in ZooKeys, as one of two new glyptosternine catfish species collected from tributaries of the upper Yangtze River in Yunnan Province, China. The authors placed both new species in the genus Sineuchiloglanis, family Sisoridae, subfamily Glyptosterninae — the flattened, torrent-adapted "glyptosternoid" sisorids found across the eastern Himalaya and southwestern China. The holotype (IHB 202507042) and its paratypes were collected from the Baishui River, upper Yangtze River drainage, Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province, China, at 27°38'N, 104°46'E and an elevation of roughly 2595 ft.
