The species was described in 2023 from the western basin of Lake Towuti.
Morphology
A small ricefish; FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL.
Habitat
The shallow shore of Lake Towuti, South Sulawesi. FishBase says it occurs on gently sloping shores about 5 ft deep, with large boulders and submerged wood over sand and gravel, between 0 and 7 ft depth. It often schools with Oryzias profundicola and O. marmoratus, alongside Paratherina, gobies and the halfbeak Nomorhamphus megarrhamphus.
