Taxonomy & naming
Mandagi, Mokodongan, Tanaka and Yamahira described the species in 2018 from the Doping-doping River in Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi. The name refers to the type locality.
Morphology
A small ricefish; FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL.
Habitat
The Doping-doping River in Luwu Timur, South Sulawesi, a stream not far from the Malili lakes region. FishBase says it lives in the middle reaches, where the current is moderate and the bed is sand and gravel, and that a Nomorhamphus halfbeak was collected with it.
