Taxonomy & naming
This is an undescribed form: no scientific name, authority or type material stands behind it, and its identity and range are not documented in the sources the atlas uses. C084 is a C-number, a code from the Corydoras hobby catalogue for forms that had no name. Imperial Tropicals sells it as the mega metae Hoplisoma and says it looks much like the bandit cory, Hoplisoma metae, but treats it as a separate form.
Morphology
Imperial Tropicals calls it a sizable corydoradine that closely resembles the bandit Hoplisoma, which is the origin of the name mega metae.
Habitat
Imperial Tropicals says it is mostly known from remote parts of the Rio Tique in Brazil, and that populations have also been found in the upper Rio Negro, the Rio Orinoco and other tributaries across Brazil and Colombia. These are seller statements; the atlas has no source that documents the form's range.
Feeding
Corydoradines are bottom-feeding omnivores that sift sand with their barbels (genus-level); no diet is documented for this form.
Mating
Like other corydoradines, the group spawns in the T-position, the female carrying eggs in her pelvic fins before sticking them to a surface (genus-level). Spawning of this form is not documented.
Breeding
No captive-breeding record for this form is held by the atlas.
In the aquarium
Imperial Tropicals says the fish is rarely seen in the hobby. No size, water or care figures are given in the listing text the atlas holds. As with other corydoradines, keep a group on sand.
Conservation
No IUCN assessment exists for this undescribed form. Its range and numbers are not documented, so its conservation status cannot be stated.
