Oryzias cabaranensis is a medaka described in 2025 by Chen, Yeh and Lai from Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan. FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL. It belongs to a set of recently described Taiwanese medaka and little else has been published about it.

Taxonomy & naming

Chen, Yeh and Lai described the species in 2025 from Shuanlianpi, Yilan County, Taiwan. It joins O. chenglongensis among the recently described Taiwanese medaka.

Morphology

A small medaka; FishBase gives a maximum of 1.5 in SL.

Habitat

Wetlands and ponds of Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan, around the type locality at Shuanlianpi. FishBase describes it as a freshwater, benthopelagic fish of a subtropical climate.

Feeding

Diet is not documented.
