Oryzias wolasi is a ricefish from the Andambao River in the Wolasi district of southeast Sulawesi, described in 2013 together with O. asinua. FishBase gives a maximum of 1 in SL.

Taxonomy & naming

Parenti, Hadiaty, Lumbantobing and Herder described the species in 2013 from the Sungai Andambao in the Wolasi district, Konawe Selatan. The name refers to the district.

Morphology

A small ricefish; FishBase gives a maximum of 1 in SL.

Habitat

Streams of the Konawe Selatan Regency in southeast Sulawesi. FishBase describes slow to swift freshwater streams over mud, small rocks and plant debris, with emergent grasses on the banks. It also occurs in a cool (24 C) swift stream below Sumbersari Falls and in a warmer (26 C) spring-fed coastal stream.
