Oryzias hubbsi is a ricefish from Java, described by Roberts in 1998 from laboratory stock derived from wild-caught fish near Bandung. FishBase gives a maximum of 1 in SL, and the IUCN lists it as Near Threatened.

Taxonomy & naming

Roberts described the species in 1998. The type material is unusual in coming from a laboratory stock of wild-caught fish, so the exact collecting locality in Java is unclear, and how closely wild populations match the laboratory fish has not been tested.

Morphology

A small ricefish; FishBase gives a maximum of 1 in SL.

Habitat

Java, Indonesia. The type locality is given as near Bandung, from a laboratory stock. FishBase describes a freshwater, benthopelagic fish of low hilly country at 2,297–3,281 ft elevation.
