Oryzias bonneorum is a ricefish from Lake Lindu in Central Sulawesi, described by Parenti in 2008, the same year as her revision of the ricefishes. It shares the lake with Oryzias sarasinorum, and females carry their eggs in a cluster on the pelvic fins.

Taxonomy & naming

Parenti described the species in 2008 from Lake Lindu, in her revision of ricefishes. The plural ending of the name indicates that it honours more than one person.

Morphology

A small ricefish; its maximum size is not recorded here.

Habitat

Lake Lindu in the Lore Lindu region of Central Sulawesi; not known elsewhere. FishBase describes it as a freshwater, benthopelagic fish.

Feeding

Diet is not documented in detail.

Mating

Courtship has not been described.

Breeding

FishBase calls it a pelvic-brooder: the female carries a cluster of eggs until they hatch. Clutch size and incubation time have not been published.
